A to Z Theme 2016

For my 2016 A to Z theme I used a meme that I ran across on the blog of Bridget Straub who first saw it on the blog of Paula Acton. This meme is a natural for me to use on my memoir blog. It's an A to Z concept and it's about me. No research and nothing complicated. I'm given twenty six questions or topics to discuss that are about me.

In April I kept my posts short and uncomplicated. In the midst of it all you might learn a few things about me that you didn't previously know.

My Life According to Bruce Cockburn--A Musical Challenge

Debbie at Doglady's Den had the following meme at her site this past week.   The premise is to use song titles of a favorite band or artist to answer a series of questions.  One of my favorite artists is Bruce Cockburn.  His songs have lyrics that are pure poetry with outstanding melodic backing.  Cockburn's music has spoken to me since I first discovered him in 1985.  Click on the song titles if you'd like to read the lyrics.

Here is my life according to Bruce Cockburn:

  1. I like Bruce Cockburn too. Wonderin Where the Lions are is one of my fave songs. I would love to do this w/ Grateful Dead songs but my brain's not up to speed yet to pick the songs.

    1. JoJo, the Dead have so many song titles from which to choose that you could easily do this. Relax and take your time with it and you'll probably enjoy it.

  2. How cool that you've chosen a Canadian artist. ☺ Thanks for playing along, Lee. Love your answers!

    1. Debbie D, it was a toss up between Cockburn and Neil Young who are two of my favorite artists. I considered Murray Mclauchlin but I didn't think I'd find enough of his songs on YouTube and I wasn't sure how many of his titles would fit the questions--I'm sure he'd have been a good pick too if I thought hard enough about it.

    2. Neil Young would have been great too! ☺ Not so sure about Murray.

  3. Unfamiliar as I was with the artist, I was nonetheless captivated by the song titles and you're right, the lyrics are wonderful! Now that I've listened to the band I can only wonder where the heck I've been to have missed this:-)Terrific post, Arlee!

    1. Diedre, Cockburn's behind around since 1969 I believe it is. I first saw him on the 1985 Juno awards show and then started buying as many of his albums as I could find while I was in Canada. He does some great music.

  4. I love Bruce Cockburn! A poet, master musician and humanitarian. I shall do this exercise but not immediately. I want to consider the video possibilities!

Cockburn, Young and McLauchlin are all Canadian born. Interesting. And yes, I have found McLauchlin video rather hard to find.

    1. Fantasy Writer, McLauchlin had to grow on me but once I got used to his style I really began to appreciate his work. That's probably the case for most people and most of them don't give him enough of a chance.

I'll look for your music post.

    1. STMcC, Thanks. Hope you get around to doing one of these. I can guess a few artists you might use, but whoever it might be I think you'd make it pretty interesting.

    2. LEE, maybe I'll give it a go on my blog between the March 1st and March 15th 'Battle Of The Bands' installments.

It looks like fun, and I have an artist who came to mind last night while re-reading your answers. Haven't really examined it yet, but off the top of my head I think this particular artist would give me many possibilities to work with.

    3. Great! I'll be watching for it. I've got some artist guesses, but you come up with surprises so I'll just wait and see.

  6. I read this for the first time on my phone. I don't think I read well on a tiny screen. I was thinking you came up with all of these (at first) from one song... as in the lyrics of that song. Then I listened to the song and only heard the first one. I didn't get it. Scratched head and told myself to revisit this on my computer.

I see now it clearly says SONG TITLES of one artist. Duh. I need to think about this some, but I like the idea!!!

    2. Robin, I'll bet you'd come up with some good stuff and I think you could tie it in well with one of your Soundtrack posts.

  7. Lee, great fun read of your life according to Bruce Cockburn. The song titles fit perfectly with each question. Cockburn's mellow style suits the way I envision you ~ laid back. I'll see you tomorrow for BoTB!

  8. Great answers. I like your TV Theme song.
Planet of the Clowns, wasn't that the title of a Star Wars film? I can never remember.
Wait, no. That was clones, not clowns.
    Any way, great answers.
