A to Z Theme 2016

For my 2016 A to Z theme I used a meme that I ran across on the blog of Bridget Straub who first saw it on the blog of Paula Acton. This meme is a natural for me to use on my memoir blog. It's an A to Z concept and it's about me. No research and nothing complicated. I'm given twenty six questions or topics to discuss that are about me.

In April I kept my posts short and uncomplicated. In the midst of it all you might learn a few things about me that you didn't previously know.

  1. I can't think of any topics to write about at all. I exhausted all of them the 2 years I participated. Good luck to all who are doing it! Although I respectfully disagree with the part about 'less time consuming than you might think it is'. The marked upswing in daily posts by bloggers one follows, plus the requirement to visit at least 10 new blogs on the list (esp. when you land on one that's in another language, has comments turned off or not participating), plus reply to every comment you receive on your own posts is extremely time consuming.

    1. I don't see any "requirements", only suggestions that are essentially the same ones I'd give to anyone who wants to be active in social media interaction. I've been writing posts this week that have taken me 15 minutes to 1/2 hour to finish and I could do them more quickly if I focused more.

But I can be a hack and sometimes I think that's what blogging, like journalism, is mostly about--meeting deadlines and cranking out content. I don't think that's a bad thing, but it's what some writers in the real world have to do sometimes--and actually not just writers.

The blogging activities are as time consuming as you make them and as you allow them to be. Now I do other things that I have to do and don't do as much blogging as I once did.

  2. It has already been a lot of fun. I've been to many blogs. Surprisingly many do not post often so A to Z must be a springboard to keep blogging.
What has been good for me is that the writing process helps me write better fiction. I made a comment not too long ago and realized after I pushed the publish button that the last sentence said it all. It is the distillation of what you think and saying it with less is what blogging does for me.

    1. Excellent conclusion. I like that idea of distillation--economy of words and thoughts.

  3. Right on Arlee! I totally winged it the first two years. And winged over half of it last year. This year I have nine yet to do.....expected to finish this weekend. But life is interrupting me.

    1. Always something isn't it. I've got more than I'd like to go, but I'm over half way done on most of my blogs and a couple just have a few posts left to finish.

      You'll get it.

  4. All my posts are brief, except for "K" which about my son. "Kindness". I hope people take time to read through it, about 300 words.

    1. Brief is very good. I think 300 words sounds pretty brief. Good job!

  5. I really don't know how you manage to blog A-Z on more than one blog! Please tell me you plan ahead?! Thanks for stopping by to see me again - Pride and Prejudice is actually near the bottom of my list of fav Austen novels. The on-screen versions certainly do not do the novel justice though. That's actually what my Master of Arts thesis is all about. To someone who has only read P&P, I would recommend Sense and Sensibility, but my real favourite is Northanger Abbey!

    1. Maybe one day I'll get around to the other Austen novels. I did like most of the filmed versions other than the most recent one. My favorite was the one from about 1940. It really helped me to understand the comedic aspects of the book.

    1. I don't have too many too go on except for my A Few Words blog, but I use that for my daily Bible study time.
